Moose's Memorial Day Weekend

I would call this just Memorial Day Weekend, or our Memorial Day Weekend, but judging from my camera roll, it was all about the Moose.

Though rain threatened every day, we still found plenty of time to life-jacket up and get some time out on the water.

It's always a process getting ready to go out - with so many family members and now little kids. Kids who LOVE sunscreen, which is a good problem!

Luckily Moose is patient.

I hear a lot about Pomeranians being annoying little yippy dogs, but not this one. Moose is a lake dog through and through.

The weekend wasn't all about the dog - our Nieces enjoyed the lake too!

How sweet is this picture - I love the reflection of E in my SIL's sunglasses.

Moose took over again at this point - just a quick dip!

In and out he goes!

Then it was back to some dual-driving, and lots of horn honking underneath bridges.

All of us with the wind in our hair!

Then it was Baby E's turn - she just turned one and started walking!

Not on the boat, obviously.

Always ending with the two Captains of our Ship.

Hope your Memorial Day Weekend was memorable as well - and though I'm late per usual, always a huge gratitude to the men and women who have lost their lives defending this great country.

One Last Beaching

Summer is officially coming to a close but we still had time to squeeze in one last beach trip to South Padre Island in Texas. Or, Northern Mexico if you ask EH. First there was the overpacking.

Then the 12-14 hour drive depending on which map we referenced. Moose knows how to make himself comfortable.

After finally making it to meet my parents and the rest of the family, we made it an early night and woke up to explore the beach.

The weather was absolutely perfect for our entire trip - warm and sunny with a great breeze.

Even Moose, who has already braved rivers and lakes this summer, took right to playing in the waves.

In between frolicking in the waves Moose hung out with us under a towel tent EH set up to lay in the shade.

At night we enjoyed the amazing sunsets and island scenes.

On our last day we did some bay fishing where I caught a shark! It was a huge shock and while it was exciting, I hope to stick to the cute little catfish next time instead. You may be able to tell from the pictures and my expressions.

Luckily the deck hand was okay to pose the shark for me. I named him Steve.

This was my only catch of the day but the rest of our group consistently pulled in red fish, catfish and a few other types. Our boat crew were hilarious and while I don't want to catch another shark anytime soon, it was a great experience.

After all of that excitement we finished up our trip with one last afternoon on the beach.

We wrapped up the trip with home cooked fish from our trip and deep conversations withe Mooser.
Where he promptly passed out  after all of the beach activities.

All in all it was a wonderful last getaway for the summer. Have you had any fun last minute summer plans?

Our Labor Day Weekend

Another summer is wrapping up! It feels like this one has flown by. We started our Labor Day weekend off by watching Guardians of the Galaxy - if you haven't seen it already please go ASAP! It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. And I might have cried.

Later in the weekend we watched our beloved Razorbacks play against Auburn - they say games are won in the second half and that definitely was true for us since we were great in the first half and lacking in the second. But we're looking a lot better than previous years so I look forward to watching how we improve from here on out.

Finally, we made it to the lake for what is likely our last time for the season. Not going to the lake house in general, but definitely for getting out on the boat.

Our niece is getting more brave by the minute! Not only did she ride with EH all the way to the gas station, but later she rode behind the boat on the inner tube! It's so fun playing with her in the lake.

Even Moose has become acclimated to being on the boat and out on the water.

So while I'm nowhere near as tan as I thought I would be, this summer has been an absolute fantastic one. Luckily we get to stretch the summer activities one more week - next weekend we're headed to the very southern part of Texas to spend a few days at the beach with my family. Hopefully I can soak up some more rays then!

Did you do anything fun for Labor Day weekend? Any last minute summer plans?

We Survived the Four Ball

Every year for a long weekend in August, we head down to EH's hometown for their country club's Four Ball Golf Tournament.

It's something we definitely look forward to every year and this year was no exception. We drove down Thursday for Ladies Night/Stag Night where all the guys go to play casino games and the girls have dinner and drinks.

Friday the girls and I ate Mexican and got mani/pedi's - I went for You Don't Know Jacques by OPI on my toenails and a minky gray shellac on my nails. I guess you could say I am ready for Fall!

After the guys finished up on Friday, we moseyed back to the club to see the Memphis Soul Revue which holds a special place in our heart as a smaller group from this large group played at our wedding!

Saturday this happened.

EH and his golf partner decided to stand out a little this year and invest in golf knickers. If they go this route next year I'm getting him a newsboy hat but I thought he looked pretty dashing, all considering!

Saturday is my favorite day because it's the prime day to camp out on the 13th hole with the crowd that has assembled to heckle the players. As far as I know this is the only golf course that has a dedicated spot to actually heckle players (near the concession stand and it even has bleachers!) but most people are a good sport about it. Not all, but most.

The only thing to watch out for are the Orange Things - a specially concocted beverage that has been known to make people lose their balance or fall asleep under trees.

Here's a shot of the dynamic duo.

After the golf it's another night out which means fuzzy pictures (if we even remember to take them) and a mighty headache the next few days.

So while it's an absolute blast, it's definitely a good thing that Four Ball comes once a year!

Weekend Happenings

This past weekend was the first in a long time it feels like where Engineer Husband and I had no concrete plans or trips out of town. To say this was much needed is an understatement.

Here's what we filled our free time up with:

1 // Stopped into American Pie Pizza for a couple of pre-movie drinks and some spicy chicken dip. This has sort of become a tradition right before we go see a movie, which isn't often enough!

2 // Met up with a friend and her hilarious fiance to see 22 Jump Street. It was SO hilarious - better than the first which is saying something because I loved that one too.

3 // After the movie we headed to BJ's Brewhouse for a couple of post-movie drinks. Our friend's Fiance got RAK'd (Random Act of Kindness - it's a Chiver thing) which made EH jealous he wasn't wearing his Chive shirt. Good times!

4 // On Saturday we grabbed lunch and after deciding it was ridiculously too hot and too humid outside, I convinced EH to help me set up a little backyard oasis.

Which meant concocting up an "orange thing" (basically a screwdriver with a splash of sprite - so good!), breaking out the super SPF tanning lotion, and diving into a new book. Pretty funny so far - especially if you are read it in Ron Swanson's voice. Which of course I did.

But what really made the oasis special was my very own personal swimming pool.

Which I purchased with the money I received for returning a dress to Target, which basically meant I purchased my pool FOR FREE. Not really, but that's what it felt like at least.

On Sunday we headed to one of our favorite spots - Dugan's Irish Pub - for a late lunch and day drinking while we watched the World Cup!

Which led to another round at Stone's Throw Brewery - which I've mentioned before is a favorite.

And last but not least, we captured the elusive white(ish) chipmunk that has been terrorizing Moose.

Which EH promptly named Moby Chick. Get it?

Shortly after we shuttled him to the nearby park to join the league of other chipmunks we have relocated. Not sure if it's helping control the population in our backyard but oh well! It's so fun to see them sprint off - I'm pretty sure the park goers think we are crazy.

Hopefully that shows up!

Have a happy week!
