4th Anniversary Memphis Trip

It's been a whirlwind of a month! With the beautiful Spring weather comes lots of activities. I'll back track a little here - March 31st was our 4th Anniversary (crazy!) and so we decided to steal away and visit Memphis, TN.

The drive to Memphis should be pretty straight forward but the traffic from all of the trucks makes it a somewhat stressful drive. But before we knew it we were in the Volunteer State ready to celebrate!

Of course the first thing EH wanted to do was check out the giant Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid.

We have a Bass Pro Shop here in Little Rock, but the Pyramid is really impressive.

The best part are the live animals everywhere. I could spend hours just watching them!

After Bass Pro we headed to our hotel to freshen up and get ready for dinner. We picked Flight and it was perfection from start to finish.

Similar to a brewery where you can order a flight of various beers in smaller sizes, Flight offers everything from their appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts in flight form. Even the wine!

The food was delicious and it was so fun getting to try several different types of wine. EH finished off the night with a flight of three different scotches. How fun is that!

After dinner we hit up Beale Street.

It was fun walking in and out of the different bars, and we were lucky our hotel right off Beale Street. The only Uber we had to take the entire weekend was to and from the restaurant the first night.

Saturday we woke up and headed to the Gibson Guitar Museum, also conveniently across the stress from our hotel.

These two in the shop were my favorite. I love the birds!

Unfortunately for us they don't allow pictures back in the factory but if you get an opportunity, make sure you visit this museum! We got to see each part of the guitar making process and even got to see some limited edition guitars - one designed for Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl.

From there it was more patio sitting, bar hopping, and just enjoying a weekend away with each other.

Then Sunday came too soon and it was time for a quick brunch at the Majestic Grille

It was so nice to get away, even if only two hours from home! Best way to celebrate our anniversary.

OAR at Goldstrike, Brunch in Memphis

One of my favorite memories from college is going to see O.A.R. in concert. Something about that music just takes me back. So when we heard they were playing at the Goldstrike Casino in Tunica, we knew we had to go!

It was everything we remembered from college!

EH broke out even at the casino, and I came out with at least some of my spending money left unused. That seems like a victory to me!

The next day we all benefited from brunch in Memphis. A quick google search gave us Bar Dog in the heart of downtown.

Their bloody mary was delicious - just spicy enough for that post night-out headache.

I ordered breakfast sliders with potato hash.

Super cheesy, perfectly cooked fried eggs and bacon. I want to try and recreate these at home, so good!

EH went for a ham and cheese omelette.

Our friend S ordered a little bit of everything - pancakes, eggs, bacon, breakfast slider! Who can blame the guy.

A few hours we were home! Tunica treated us well and was a great 24 hour trip. Have you ever been? What casino game is your favorite? Penny slots for life over here!

Kitty's Wedding!

Back in July you may remember I helped host a Kiss the Girl Bridal Shower for my very best friend, Kitty. Last month was finally got together again to celebrate her and her Fiance's Big Day!

Starting out with a Rehearsal dinner at the restaurant K used to work!

All the pretty bridesmaid with Pretty K in the white. Love these girls!

After dinner, K smartly went back to her suite and took it easy the rest of the night, leaving the rest of us to go out. The wedding was in our college town so it's always fun to hit up our old stomping grounds!

We love Uber. And Fayetteville had some of the best Uber drivers. At one point I remember one of the cars having disco lights!

The next day we all met at Luxe Beauty to get hair and makeup done.

Big hair don't care, right?

K's hair was beautiful, and her something borrowed was this beautiful piece that belongs to her older sister.

Once we were all dolled up it was time to get to the venue for champagne toasts and to put our dresses on.

My hair notoriously refuses to stay teased so I got a bit of a redo. N is the best at teasing hair. We debated just leaving it like this, K would have loved that!

The flower girls wanted a sneak peek at K in her dress.

AHH, isn't she gorgeous?! I am still obsessed with her gown.

The back is to die for. I cannot wait to see her professional pictures.

Sisters! A is my little sis from our sorority days - aren't they both pretty? Pretty girls.

Before we knew it it was wedding time! K had a beautiful outdoor ceremony and then we all headed into the venue just a few steps away - the Pratt Place Barn. She had two long tables running the length of the barn, white twinkling lights and beautiful white arrangements. Simple but so classic.

We danced our little hearts out in celebration of K and A! I couldn't be happier for them both and I loved standing up with her for their big day.

Sure love you, K! Cheers to all the happy years with A!

New Orleans Day Two

I'm seriously missing New Orleans. So bear with me as I continue to recap each day, with probably an overload of photos. I couldn't help myself!

So after I last left off, our group ventured to Bourbon Street to start the long weekend off.

Probably one of the few super touristy-giveaway thing we did - order Big Ass Beers.

After our big night our, we woke up the next morning and all met at Acme Oyster House.

We couldn't turn down Boo Fries - french fries drenched in roast beef gravy and shredded cheese.

Followed by several orders of Char-grilled Oysters, none of which EH actually ate but he did enjoy the bread dipped in the sauce. SO good.

EH and I went for fried catfish and red beans and rice, a staple of New Orleans.

My MIL went for the soft shell crab. I think it's safe to say she enjoyed it!

After a starch heavy lunch and a little hair of the dog, we were ready to set out for our first day of walking around New Orleans. Hot! But under beautiful clear blue skies.

I'm sure it's cliche but I so enjoyed the architecture of New Orleans - so ornate and beautiful.

We stopped into a couple shops along the way. My favorite was this Antiques shop - though I regret to say I didn't catch the name. But how fun was this guy in the bottom right? He was shopping for pocket watches. I wanted to be his friend.

A case in the corner held nothing but vintage Chanel - my heart could burst!

But what I really coveted was this - a signed record from The Blues Brothers! My absolute favorite movie of all time.

Sadly I didn't have enough pocket money for this one. Maybe one day!

On we kept walking, passing fences filled with artwork.

People kept stopping to check out this piece, but it still it remained. Wonder why!

I have an affinity for horses - this guy was my favorite of all the tour horses.

We popped into a few different shops - this one was fun! So many ties, bowties and pocket squares. Very Southern.

Eventually we found Lafitte's Blacksmith Bar.

Which was REALLY cool - we found a couple of pub tables in the dark back corner and enjoyed the coolness of the room. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be the smell. I don't even know how to describe it but we all noticed it. But still fun, I would definitely give it a shot.

Next up was the French Market.

I walked out with a few trinkets from here - a few custom Lego men for DH, a Blue Dog print and boiled peanuts.

Eventually our group split up to head back to their hotels to get ready for the night. EH and I enjoyed a few street performers.

The man in gold was my favorite - he really did look like a statue until he started dancing. So fun!

There's still so much but this was one of my favorite days.
